Draw Near
In the quietness and the stillness,
Draw near unto the Lord,
Tell Him all your troubles,
To Him your heart outpour.
Draw near when you are lonely,
Draw near when you are sad,
Just draw ever nearer,
He's the best friend you can have.
Lean upon Him always,
In sorrow and in pain,
Just keep drawing nearer,
In the sunshine and the rain.
So keep Him ever near you,
For His promises are true,
Just keep drawing nearer,
And He'll draw near to you.

Always
Listen
There are many things in life,
Which are better left unsaid,
We do not know the influence,
They make upon our friends.
Do not always give your opinion,
However much it means to you,
Just sit quietly in the stillness,
And listen to the other views.
And by listening you will realize,
It was better you did not speak,
And you will know the gold of silence,
As you learn from those who speak.

Be A Comfort
Be a comfort to your friend,
When grief has touched their life,
They are filled with sorrow,
They can see no light.
The way ahead looks lonely,
They are lost and sad,
Their hearts are filled with sorrow,
Your presence will make them glad,
They don't need a phone call,
To see how they are,
A visit would be a comfort,
It will warm their heart.
They need you to hang around,
And just give them a hug,
They don't need you talking,
They prefer a little hush.
So be a comfort to your friend,
In their time of greatest need,
Just hang around and hug them,
Don't talk-it's love they need.

The
Perfumes of Life
Drink deeply from the perfumes of life,
Drink deeply and take the share,
That is given to you in joy or pain,
Drink deeply, the Saviour cares.
Drink deeply from the perfume of pain,
Drink deeply, you'll have your share,
The Saviour will help you, again and again,
If you drink freely from Him there.
Drink deeply from the perfume of joy,
Drink deeply, your share will come,
Trust in the Saviour, be happy in Him,
Be joyful till He comes
Drink deeply from the perfumes of life,
They'll come and you will know,
The Saviour always sends each one,
For your life on earth to grow.

Have You?
Have you been to the mountain top?
Have you been there to pray?
Have you seen the rising sun?
At the beginning of a day.
Have you given your worries of God,
And thanked Him, because He knows,
Have you asked Him to help you?
Along the way you'll go.
Have you asked Him to walk with you?
And keep you from all harm,
Have you asked Him to stay with you?
To take away fears and alarms.
If you haven't been to the mountain top,
Then go, and kneel in prayer,
The Saviour is there, He'll meet you,
And tenderly keep you in His care.

Sorrow And Joy
As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing
(2 Corinthians 6:10)
Sorrow spoke to joy and said,
"I cannot walk with you,
I have ceased to look for gladness,
With the sorrowful, I'll walk too"
Joy spoke to sorrow and said,
"I cannot walk with you,
I rejoice with those who do rejoice,
I cannot walk with you".
We can never be united",
Said sorrow wistfully,
Joys eyes saddened as he spoke,
"My path is not with thee"
They become conscious of a form
Standing, dimly seen,
A holy Kingly Presence,
And they sank to their knees.
Said sorrow "A King of joy I see,
Nail prints in His hands and feet,
Many crowns are on His head,
My sorrow melts at His victory.
Said Joy "A King of sorrow I see,
Nail prints in His hands and feet,
A Crown of thorns on His head,
They are scars of great agony"
We are one in Him they said,
For He unites sorrow and joy,
Hand in hand through life we'll tread,
For in sorrow, we can always rejoice.

Be Alert
The devil is having a field day,
And clapping his hands with glee,
When he sees God's people sinning,
Crime, violence, drugs and immorality,
He's laughing and looking all around,
Wondering what next he can do,
We must all be very careful,
Or we'll be involved with him too.
We who serve the Saviour,
And walk with Him day by day,
Must speak out against the evils,
That are pervading our world today.
We must speak and be an example,
Give help to the people of the world,
God's day of judgment is coming,
It's prophesied in His holy word.
So keep ever alert and be vigilant,
Against the evils of this day,
God will come and surely judge us,
And He will have His way.

Be
Still
(Based on Psalm 46:10)
Be still and know that I am God.
Be still in the presence of our Saviour,
Be still in the presence of God,
Ask not for any favours,
Just be still in the presence of God.
Do not pray or praise Him until,
Your whole being is hushed and quiet,
Just rest in the Saviour and be still,
He will show you His might.
For He will send His spirit,
To uplift you and control,
Be still in the presence of our Saviour,
Give to Him your soul.
Give it to Him gladly,
Till earthly desires grow dim,
Be still in the presence of our Saviour,
Be still and hearken to Him.

Grieving
This process called grieving,
Is very hard to bear,
As we go backwards and forwards,
So few, understand or care.
Family and friends, see our smiling face,
They think that we are feeling fine,
If they could only see and know,
How we feel all the time.
Through difficult days we've come.
Through shock, sadness, hopelessness and crying,
Confused, nervous, helpless and lonely,
But we must keep on trying.
We feel guilty and full of self pity,
We should let go and be filled with hope,
Try to lift our self esteem,
As we live and try to cope.
With change that has turned our life,
Upside down and inside out,
Filled us with anger and despair,
And also many a doubt.
We must hold on to hope and laughter,
The will to live with faith and love,
Learn to cherish, appreciate and grow,
With help from God above.

Trust In The Saviour
Are you over whelmed by the storms of life,
The waves high and crashing o'er you,
Call to the Saviour in your strife,
He will save and uphold you
Are you sinking in the depths of woe,
All looks bleak and forbidding,
Call to the Saviour as you go,
He will keep you winning.
Are you lonely and sad, filled with sorrow?
No one to come and comfort you,
Just give the Saviour all your tomorrows,
And He will carry you through.
Do not sink in the depths of despair,
Do not sink in the depths of fear,
Trust in the Saviour, for He cares,
Always keep Him very near.

Watch And Wait
(Based on St. Mark's Gospel Chapter 13)
Jesus said He will come again,
With glory and great might,
So we must watch and wait,
It will be an awesome sight.
There will be famines and earthquakes,
And man will be afraid,
But these things must happen,
Before Jesus comes again.
The sun will not shine,
The moon will give no light,
The Awful Horror will have passed away,
When Jesus comes in His great might.
So we must watch and pray,
For the Holy Spirit to keep us strong,
And witness till the end of the age,
Perhaps, it won't be long.

A New Day
On the wings of grief and sorrow,
Through winds and gales and storms,
My heart still trusts, for tomorrow
A new day will be born,
A new day to trust the Saviour,
A new day for hope to begin,
A new day to live for Jesus,
A new day to trust in Him.
Oh, give Him all your cares,
Just leave your grief with Him,
For He will gently lead you,
Even though your faith is dim.
He'll always lead if you follow,
Whatever each new day brings,
So give Him your days and tomorrows,
Keep ever travelling with Him.

God's Great Love
The great love of God,
Has uplifted and helped us,
Through sadness and sorrow,
And our time of grief.
The great love of God,
Flowing down from heaven,
Helps us in our sadness,
For He our souls will keep.
The great love of God,
Will draw us closer to Him,
Closer to the shelter
Of His over shadowing wings.
The great love of God,
Will gently enfold us,
He will always shelter us,
Just draw close to Him.

How
Are You
How are you today, my friend,
How are you today?
I am well and feeling fine,
Yes, that's what you'd say.
I see the lines of sadness,
Etched upon your brow,
And the lines of pain,
I saw one, just now.
You always have a smile,
Upon your kindly face,
Always a cheery word,
As on others you do wait.
So we must learn to look
At friends, who are in need
Of a kind and friendly word,
And the tell tale signs to heed.
The signs of pain and sadness,
The sings of grief and care,
Heed them as our friends we meet,
Learn to comfort, their lives to share.

Never
Alone
Alone, alone, no never alone,
The Saviour is always near,
Ready to help and uplift you,
And drive away your fears.
Alone, alone, not like Jesus,
Who suffered on Calvary's tree,
For your sake and mine,
From sin to set us free.
Alone, alone, just trust Him,
Just trust Him with your life,
He will never forsake you,
He'll guide you with His might.
Alone, alone, no never alone,
As He leads, just follow Him,
Give Him your heart and your soul,
Never alone when following Him.

The
Holy Spirit
Do not speak ill of the Holy Spirit,
The Holy Spirit of God,
For you will never be forgiven,
This we were told by Jesus our Lord.
You can be forgiven for any sin,
Or any evil thing you say,
But to speak ill of God's Spirit,
Will go against you, on judgement day.
For every useless word you speak,
An account of you'll have to give,
To God our Father in heaven,
So always try to live.
Close to the heart of Jesus,
Close to the heart of God,
Never speaking ill and useless words,
Or against the Spirit of God.

Cords Of Love
Bind us Lord, bind us,
With your cords of love,
Fill us with your Spirit,
Pour it from above.
Ever pour it on us,
Let us feel your might,
Bind us with cords of love,
Help us in the fight.
As we daily journey,
Along life's weary way,
Bind us with your cords of love,
And ever with us stay.
Bind us with cords of love,
Bind them around our hearts,
And draw us to you Saviour,
So we will never part.

Have You Forgotten?
Have you forgotten to seek the Lord?
To seek the Lord today,
Have you forgotten to read His word?
To study it and pray.
Have you forgotten to ask Him?
To help you on your way,
To lead you and to guide you,
Throughout each busy day.
And when the day is ending,
And you go at last to rest,
Do you stop and thank the Saviour?
Or have you forgotten Him instead?

When Life Becomes A Burden
When life becomes a burden,Oh
just trust the Lord,
When life becomes a burden,
Oh just trust His word.
For He said His yoke is easy,
To all who come to Him,
When life becomes a burden,
Put your faith in Him.
Rest in Him and always learn,
From His gentle, humble Spirit,
When life becomes a burden,
Rest in Him every minute.
For the yoke He gives us,
Is easy and the load is light,
When life becomes a burden,
Just keep the Lord in sight.

Let Me
Be
Let me be a prism Lord,
Showing forth your radiance,
Let me be a prism Lord,
Fill me with your fragrance,
Fill me with your fragrance,
Your fragrance and your love,
Let me be a prism Lord,
Shine on me from above.
Shine on me and help me,
To show forth your light,
Let me be a prism Lord,
Always shining, always bright.

Precious
Promises
Precious are the promises,
Found in God's holy word,
Precious are His promises,
Given to all the world.
God gives them to us freely,
Precious promises from Him,
Read them in your bible daily,
They will keep you close to Him.
For He said He'll never leave us,
And He'll forsake us never,
So claim God's precious promises,
Keep them in your heart forever.

God's
Handiwork
As I gaze all around me,
Mere words cannot describe,
The beauty of God's handiwork,
Autumn, it's seen on every side.
The stately poplars growing tall,
Like sentinels they stand,
How pretty are the leaves that fall,
A patchwork blanket on the ground.
I smell the scent of apples,
I see grapes growing on the vine,
The colours of the leaves are changing,
Such a wealth of beauty is mine.
|
I see the green of rolling hills,
Summer's gold dispelled with rain,
Oh let me look and look until,
Autumn comes again.
And as I see these Autumn sights,
God's handiwork over all,
The shadows lengthen and the nights,
Are ready for Winter to fall.

Your Lamp
Is your lamp burning brightly?
Do you polish it every day?
Do you replenish it nightly?
As to God you pray.
He gives the oil to make it shine,
So you can light the way,
Is your lamp burning brightly?
To show others the way.
The way to life eternal,
The way to heaven above,
Is your lamp burning brightly?
Showing others of God's love.

Have You A
Friend?
Have you a friend in trouble?
Have you a friend in need?
Life's not all froth and bubble,
In their time of need.
Do you go to help them?
Or just pick up the phone,
Do you talk and say to them,
If you need us, we'll come?
Don't do that to your friends,
Go call, give them a lift,
For a little Kindness, mends
The heart, for you have the gift.
The gift that we call friendship,
Go talk, make a cup of tea,
Be a source of comfort
To friends, who are in need.

Trust
Teach us to trust Thee Lord,
As we journey on each day,
Teach us to trust Thee Lord,
When trouble comes our way.
For trouble will always come,
And try to shake our faith,
Teach us to trust Thee Lord,
And not waver, but just wait.
For the answers to our prayers,
Which go daily up to you,
Teach us to trust Thee Lord,
Your strength will carry us through.

Don't Build
A Wall
Don't build a wall around your heart,
Let Jesus the Saviour in,.
Don't build a wall around your heart,
Jesus saves, he forgives your sins.
For He did tell us,
He is the way, the truth and the life,
Don't build a wall around your heart,
Trust Jesus, the Lord of Life.
If you only will let Him,
He'll show you the way to go,
Don't build a wall around your heart,
Trust Jesus, He loves you so.
So break down the wall around your heart,
And let Jesus be your guide,
Break down the wall around your heart,
Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.

When
When burdens overwhelm us,
Let us fall onto our knees,
Give our burdens to the Saviour,
And know that He does heed.
Our prayers and intercessions,
Which come at times with tears,
For He is a mighty Saviour,
He listens and He hears.
He will uphold and bless us,
And keep us close to Him,
Answer in His own good time,
Even though our faith is dim.
So ever trust the Saviour,
And put your faith in Him,
For He is great and mighty,
Keep thanking and praising Him.

The Spirit's
Fruits
Let us all be thankful,
For the gifts we're given,
And let us all be thoughtful,
As we serve our God in heaven.
Father, let us use these gifts,
To us so freely given,
The gifts of Thy Spirit,
Given to us from heaven.
And as we use them daily,
The gifts of love and joy,
Fill us with peace and patience,
Thy kindness help us employ.
Fill us with your goodness,
Faithfulness and humility too,
And teach us to have self-control,
In all we say and do.
Thus filled with the Spirit's fruits,
We may always show forth Thee,
Until friends and family will know,
They see not us, but Thee.

The Tongue
It's only a little member,
So always give a pause,
Before you use it - remember
You can hurt without a cause.
For if the truth you do not speak,
Others will be hurt,
So always try - don't be weak,
Speak truthfully, show your worth.
Don't blame others for your faults,
Accept them and try to change,
For with your tongue - you can assault
Others - and on them place the blame.
So always speak to God,
He'll listen if you do,
He will guard your every word,
It's only up to you.

MAKE TIME
I'll be there in a minute,
That is the answer I get,
When the dinner is ready,
And the table is set.
I'll be there in a minute,
When we are going out,
"It won't take long to get ready"
Why do I doubt?
I'll be there in a minute,
Will it be too late?
When the Saviour comes a knocking,
Will you make Him wait?
|
I'll be there in a minute,
It will be too late,
If in that minute,
God should come, your soul to take.
Don't leave it till the last minute,
Don't let Him cast you out,
All because you didn't heed,
Make time, accept Him now.

THE BATTLEMENTS OF HEAVEN
On the battlements of heaven,
Stand the saints of God,
Watching as we witness,
Treading where they've trod.
The battlements are crowded,
With all who've gone before,
They're cheering and they're shouting,
As we spread the word of God.
Let us never be discouraged,
As we daily onward go,
May God give us the courage,
His holy word to sow.
And then when
life has ended,
And we enter the heavenly land,
To stand upon the battlements.
And shout at God's command.
|
To all who labour here below,
The encouragement they need,
For one day they'll stand on the battlements,
If God's word they heed.
And as they stand upon the battlements,
When their earthly life is done,
They'll stand with the saints victorious,
And hear our God's "well done".

DANCING DAFFODILS
Daffodils, daffodils dancing in the breeze,
Did you ever see such lovely flowers as these?
Dancing in the valleys, dancing on the hills,
Always dancing, dancing, come look and take your fill.
Of these beautiful golden flowers,
Always dancing in the sun,
They have no cares like ours,
They dance and dance for fun.
So stop and take a lesson, from these dancing flowers,
In garments of gold arrayed,
They trust God to send the showers,
As they dance on, day by day.
|
So let us learn to trust God,
He sends strength for every need,
And as we watch these dancing flowers,
We see God - in every breeze.

THE RAINBOW
When troubled look for the rainbow,
That colours the sky after rain,
It will lift, when you feel low,
God's promises are not in vain.
For long ago He promised,
To set His covenant in the sky,
He would not flood the earth again,
And let all mankind die.
|
He sets the colours in a bow,
Reflecting His glory in the sky,
So always seek and behold,
This promise shown on high.
For His love is everlasting,
His covenants all are true,
His everlasting kindness,
Is given to me and you.

EASTERTIDE
Risen, ascended and glorified,
Oh wonderful, wonderful, Eastertide,
Jesus our Saviour from death has been raised,
Let us give thanks and praise His name.
Jesus has conquered death and the grave,
His life for our sins He willingly gave,
Let us rejoice and let praises ring,
To Jesus our Saviour, Redeemer and King.
Everlasting life He gives to us all,
Accept Him now, hear Jesus' call,
So give your all, your heart and your life,
To Jesus, risen, ascended and glorified.

THE ROAD TO EMMAUS
On the long road to Emmaus,
Two disciples of Jesus walked,
And the words they were saying,
Were all about the crucified Lord.
Jesus drew near and talked with them,
But they did not know it was He,
They did not know He had risen from death,
From sin to set them free.
He expounded the scriptures to them,
As they walked along,
They came to a village and asked Him to stay,
It was getting dark and the way was long.
As Jesus blessed the food on the table,
He disappeared from their sight,
Their eyes were opened, they had recognised Him,
At once, they left and went into the night.
They went at once to Jerusalem,
And told the eleven disciples there,
They had recognised the risen Lord,
When He blessed and broke the bread.
